About This Item

New Brunswick: Rutgers University Press. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1955. 1st Edition. First Printing. Hard Cover. Quarter bound in publisher's black cloth over red boards, spine in six compartments separated by light blue borders, gilt lettering on light blue panel in one compartment, gilt lettering in two others, top edge blue. The Living Lincoln is based on the original eight-volume edition of "The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln," (the ninth volume is an index) published by Rutgers University Press in 1953, to which these editors have been given unlimited access. From this collection these editors have selected the most revealing of Lincoln's writings, both on himself and the important issues of his day. Here is, in effect, Abraham Lincoln's autobiography, from his early years in New Salem, through the upheavals of his Presidency, to the day before he died. . Brief gift inscription on ffep, otherwise unmarked, tight, square, and clean; seemingly unread. VERY GOOD. . Small 4to 9" - 11" tall. viii, (ii), 673 pp .
