Exactly the sort of book one is delighted to give,or,better still,to receive as a present . . . this excellent book, with its charming illustrations by the author, leads the visitor (and native) alike on a superbly researched series of river safaris . . .
Book generously occupies itself with the stretch of river between Westminster and Windsor thus focusing on as rich a stretch of scenery and history as any to be found in the world.
The author is the great-grandson of Walter frederick Roope Tyndale, R.I., Victorian watercolourist and travel writer [1855- 1943],a specimen of whose work my be viewed in Queen Mary's Doll's House,in Windsor Castle. The author is currently (then 1988) engrossed in illustrating other capitol cities,to be published in a series of which this book forms the first. The author has also previously published 'Inns of Court' (1971) and 'The Lawyers' (1976).
