(London, Collins, The New Naturalist, 1945). With 52 colour photographs by Eric Hosking and others; 41 black and white photographs and 12 maps and diagrams. Dustwrapper, foxed and a little frayed, original green buckram, unevenly faded, pp. xii + 282, plates, including some colour. Gift inscription on the front pastedown endpaper, text lightly browned, some light foxing on the endpapers, preliminary pages and text edges, very slight ripple in the text. .
