Mystic, Connecticut: The Marine Historical Association, Inc, 1965. Wraps. Good. Blue printed wraps. 117 pp. With black and white illustrations throughout. Signed, with an inscription, by the editor. A printing of the journal of Lieutenant Frederick Schwatka, part of an expedition to recover lost written records of the ill-fated Franklin expedition (seeking a Northwest Passage in the Arctic). Based on recollections of Inuits living in the area of where Franklin passed, Charles Francis Hall put together this expedition of which Schwatka was part, hoping to recover the lost logs. Schwatka provides a detailed account. of the Arctic, the expedition and the Inuits on the expedition. GOOD condition. Several smallish areas of spotting, staining and discoloration to the wraps. Moderate uneven fading and toning to the wrappers, mostly along the extremities. Minor soiling.
