Cover features "Wingnut" Weaver, co-star of the 1994 film "Endless Summer." Feature article on Tom Blake & The Hollows. Blake is widely considered to be one of the most influential surfers in history, and a key figure in transforming surfing from a regional Hawaiian specialty to a nationally popular sport. Includes a photo of Blake with many longboards, "One of the most famous surf-related photos to date," and many photos of Blake's patent and early century surfboards. Blake was the first to build a waterproof camera housing and the first to write a book on the pleasure of surfing. Issue includes article on the Oxbow World Championships at Reunion Island's Saint Leu Bay and photos of 23 of competition surfers. A compilation of "The Essential Surf Discography" and description of each musical piece. Scarce longboard surfing collectible and excellent Tom Blake collectible. 6" x 7" cutout to pages 61-62, not affecting text. 2" x 3- 1/2" cutout to pages 97-98, presumably of a small photo. 11" x 8 1/4". 92 pp. Tight, clean copy with light shelf wear with the exception of the cutouts.
