Blake is widely considered to be one of the most influential surfers in history, and a key figure in transforming surfing from a regional Hawaiian specialty to a nationally popular sport. Includes a photo of Blake with many longboards, "One of the most famous surf-related photos to date," and many photos of Blake's patent and early century surfboards. Blake was the first to build a waterproof camera housing and the first to write a book on the pleasure of surfing. Issue includes article on the Oxbow World Championships at Reunion Island's Saint Leu Bay and photos of 23 of competition surfers.
