London: John Murray, 1886. Gilt titles and black decoration on red cloth boards which have a few marks to front and 'Mudies Select Library' paper label to front, although this is not an ex library book, else clean and unmarked with just a touch of wear to spine head. Internally very clean, tight and unmarked with armorial bookplate of William Hicks (probably Hicks of Beverston, crest created in 1619) and motto 'Cassis Tutissima Virtus'. Second edition with portrait frontispiece tissue guarded. Preface by Ralph Disraeli brother of Lord Beaconsfield, who was Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) the novelist and statesman. The volume of letters was in response to numerous requests and includes many interesting and historical issues and people. B2D. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
