Los Angeles: New Way Enterprises, 1971. Tabloid. Good. Side folding tabloid format. 64 pp. A later issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with a lengthy piece on the rift within the Black Panther Party, including a quote from Eldridge Cleaver in Paris; a piece on a recent lecture by Krishnamurti; a full page ad for the Elton John album Friends; a full page ad for a Captain Beefheart, Ry Cooder and Little Feat concert in Pasadena, local news, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Address label and red check mark present to the upper front cover. Fold crease present. Some curling and creasing along the extremities. Minor soiling. Several pages in the interior with a large diagonal crease.
