Octavo; red paper-covered boards, with titles stamped in gilt on spine; dustjacket; 152pp. Bookplate of British theatre and film producer Oscar Lewenstein on front endpaper; touch of dustiness to top edge of text, else Fine. Dustjacket is unclipped (priced 15s.net), spine-sunned, with some overall shelfwear and dustiness, and a few small nicks and tears; Very Good. First English-language edition of Sartre's play, and the first using this title. The book was released the following year by Knopf under the title The Condemned of Altona, basis for the 1962 Vittorio De Sica film starring Sophia Loren and Maximilian Schell.
