White coloured boards with gilt facsimile signature of author to the lower right-hand corner of the front board and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dust wrapper, again by Shirley Hughes, with blue coloured background and white and black coloured titles to the front panel and spine. The first publication in hardback of these 7 stories in the one collection by the author: -- stories include " The Two Caves, the Silver Horse, Three Men, Lost One Angel, St Nicholas, John and Giovanni ". – from the front fold over panel blurb. Rubbing of the back strip edges and there is a stain to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel light age toning of the text block edges and pages. Original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Chipping to the top edge of the back strip, and rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels.
