Bobbs-Merrill, 1944. First Edition . Cloth. Fine/Fair. (1st edition) Sturdy book, green cloth, gilt lettering and gilt illustration of shield bright on front and spine, 311 lightly browned pages, a foldout genealogical chart inside back cover, glossy photos throughout. On first front end paper in blue ink: "To my dear friends Hazel and Durward--who were my hosts on the publication of this book, Nov. 17, 1944," then in black ink, "(Prepublication copy.) DJ glossy beneath mylar in shades of swirling green, a colorful insignia on front and spine, white back uniformly lightly browned with list of books advertised. DJ has very slight wear at top front tip, small chip and slight wear at spine top edge, two nicks at spine bottom edge, two tiny surface wear spots to front bookfold edge. Fair DJ/Fine book.
