Hammersmith: Kelmscott Press, 1897. ONE OF 300 printed on paper. There were eight copies printed on vellum. Six olive-green ties, all complete. Spine lettered in gilt. Yapp fore-edges. All edges untrimmed. Two full-page woodcut illustrations by Sir Edward-Byrnes Jones, many ornamental initials and borders designed by Morris. Printed in three colors; red, blue, and black. One of only two Kelmscott Press publications using these three colors. This is a superb copy, without flaws. Protected in a generic slipcase. See Cockerell 52 , Tompkinson p.121, Sparling 52. William Morris (1834-1896) was a British textile designer, poet, artist, novelist, architectural conservationist, printer, translator, and social activist, a major contributor to the British Arts and Crafts movement. .
