About This Item
Blunt (Wilfred Scawen) The Love Lyrics & Songs of Proteus, limited to 300 copies, all on paper, printed in red and black in Golden type, 2 woodcut borders, each poem opening with a woodcut initial by Hooper after Morris, woodcut press device after Morris on colophon leaf. Original vellum with light green silk ties, yapp edges, spine lettered in gilt.
The only Kelmscott book with the initials printed in red, at the author's request. Morris wrote to Jenny Morris, "'...it looks very gay & pretty with its red letters, but I think I prefer mine in style of printing'".
The book was shown at the Wolverhampton exhibition, 1902.
