About This Item

Jonathan Cape. London. 1968. Jonathan Cape. First edition. 1968. Hardback in DW. PRESENTATION COPY FROM O'BRIEN TO HER LITERARY AGENT ROBIN DALTON, "For darling Robin from me. E." to top of title page in smaller writing than usual. (Does the writing of some author's get larger with increased fame?) Edges of boards slightly rubbed and sunned otherwise a clean and sound copy in a wrapper that is worn and chipped to edges. Robin Dalton lived to 101 and had an extraordinary life and career. As a literary agent she represented Edna O'Brien, John Osborne, Iris Murdoch, Ben Travers, George Orwell, Margaret Drabble, B. S. Johnson, Bernice Rubens and many more. She also produced films, spied for Thai Government and for over five years dated the cousin and best man of Prince Philip. Born in Australia, she spent most of her adult life in London, surfed until she was 96 and went on entertaining people of all ages in her luxurious Hampstead flat until she died.
