First edition, first issue with "wine" for "vine" in the fifth stanza. Eleven etchings by George Cruikshank, including one plate of music, plus engraved frontispiece with eight page publisher adverts at rear. Reasonably conclusive that Thackeray composed the text and Dickens wrote the notes and preface. COHN 243. YALE/GIMBEL B84. Original covers preserved at rear. Bound by Riviere, front cover rehinged, armorial bookplate, owner inscription, fresh and bright copy, raised bands, spine panels richly gilt, inner dentelles.
