A very interesting history of the major hurricanes that have pounded the Georgia and South Carolina lowcountry since the 1600s. The author, Walter J. Fraser Jr. is professor emeritus in the Department of History at Georgia Southern University. Drawing on eyewitness accounts, he describes some of the most horrific events during hurricanes on the coast, some changing landscapes and lives forever. Book is 318 pages, contains many b&w photos, a excellent chronology of the lowcountry hurricanes, notes, bibliography, index. Boldly signed on title page(name only). Clean and tight, as new condition, and jacket is covered with a mylar sleeve.
