About This Item
New York: Taplinger Publishing Company,, 1972. Tales to keep Dracula up at night - a presentation copy for Christopher Lee First US edition, first printing, inscribed by the editor to the renowned fiend of films on the front free endpaper, "To Christopher Lee, whose work has, in the best possible way, inspired many of my collections. With warmest regards, Peter H. 11/1/73". The year after this presentation, the horror anthologist Peter Haining published another collection, Christopher Lee's New Chamber of Horrors. Haining (1940-2007) received the British Fantasy Awards's Karl Edward Wagner prize in 2001. This ghoulish collection was inspired by the opening story, "Man Overboard" by Winston Churchill. The transatlantic line-up of authors also includes Agatha Christie, J. B. Priestley, Graham Greene, F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck, William Burroughs, and many more. It was published in the UK the same year. Octavo. Original light grey quarter cloth, spine lettered in blue, dark grey board sides. With dust jacket. Lean to spine, boards a little faded, spots to edges; unclipped jacket spine toned, occasional faint mark, a couple of short closed tears, crease to head of rear panel: a very good copy in like jacket.
