About This Item

187_?. Very good overall. Part of a series called Ten Australian Views; this is card number 1 of only three cards in the series which relate to gold. 11.8 x 17.4 cm chromolithograph card, showing two gold miners returning to camp and celebrating their good luck. Two male figures, one with a pick over his shoulder, and waving his hat in jubilation, and the other with his gold pan resting on top of his head, approach a miner's cabin and announcing their good fortune to a woman bending over a laundry bucket and a man leaning out of the doorway of the cabin. In the background are scenes of miners at work against a bright blue sky. The number one is printed at lower left; the title at the center below the image. Colors are bright and fresh; one small mark at upper right hand corner; does not affect image.
