A lovely late eighteenth century publication of the engaging rhetoric by this famous Roman statesman, orator and philosopher. In Latin. In a handy pocket sized form, this set of Cicero's 'Orationes' has annotations by D Lallemand the Emetrius Rhetoric Professor at the University of Paris. Cicero was an influential figure in the development of the Latin language. He is considered to be one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. Volume I is dated 1788, II is dated 1768, III is dated 1769 Condition: In uniform half calf bindings. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the spines and extremities. Loss to the paper covered board to volume II due to rubbing. Front hinge to volume I is strained but firm. Front hinge to volume II is strained but firm. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are age toned to edges. Occasional light spotting. Overall Condition: Very Good.
