In fine condition housed in a Near Fine dust-jacket that has a crease on the bottom corner and a light fold to the inside flap. There are also a few pinches at the tops and bottoms of the dust-jacket; John Irving's deeply affecting novel about a family marked with tragedy, centering around the complex, often self-contradictory character of celebrated writer Ruth Cole. The portrait begins with Ruth being four years old and closes in the autumn of 1995, when Ruth Cole is a forty-one-year-old widow and mother. Basis for the major motion picture "The Door in the Floor" starring Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger; 8vo; Signed by Author .

Synopsis

John Irving has been nominated for a National Book Award three times–winning once, in 1980, for the novel The World According to Garp. A Prayer for Owen Meany was published in 1989. In 1992, Mr. Irving was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2000, he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for The Cider House Rules –a film with seven Academy Award nominations.
