Plaintext paperback binding with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear panel. After I had run away from school, no one knew what to do with me ...Â’ Born in Shanghai in 1915, son of a wealthy rubber merchant, Denton Welch was dispatched to an English boarding school after his motherÂ’s death. There he suffered, and soon absconded, forcing his father to bring him back to Shanghai where further travels and adventures ensued. Maiden Voyage (1943) is WelchÂ’s semi-novelistic, beautifully observed account of these formative experiences. Creasing of the book corners with a little chipping to the back strip corners. The book is slightly cocked with stains and foxing to the book covers; with browning and foxing of the text block edges and pages. Previous owners name to the top right hand corner of the half title page. Size: 12mo (standard paperback). [8], 9 - 303, [1] pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1.
