Introduction by A. G. H. Macpherson. Page edges lightly foxed. Lower corner of front cover bumped. Dust jacket has light smudges, chips at corners and spine ends. Several small tears in edges plus a 1/2" tear in one corner and a 1 1/2" tear/chip in a spine corner. Spine slightly darkened and has some of the type toward the bottom scuffed off. London: Sampson Low, Marston & Co., Ltd, 1928. 4to, pp. [2], xxvii, [1], 324; 16 color plates and 170 illustrations on rectos and versos of 43 plates at the back; a fine copy in original ochre buckram, dust jacket partially renewed, preserving the front panel laid down over patterned glassine; with a chip out at the top of the spine and with manuscript titling on spine. Alphabetical list of what seems to be a couple hundred ships, with histories of each and often an accompanying illustration from prints in the MacPherson collection, with additions "in order to make this primary work of reference as complete as possible."
