LIMITED EDITION SIGNED by the Author on the title page, 8vo, beige linen cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front cover with golden scimitar, green endpapers, 192 pages. No dust jacket as issued. Award-winning Michael Pearce (born 1933) was raised in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan and has had a great range of experience ever since. His first novel, Mamur Zapt and the Return of the Carpet (1988) began the remarkable "Mamur Zapt" series of mysteries. He has also published "A Dead Man in..." mysteries, set in before the First World War which feature Sandor Seymour, an officer of Scotland Yard's Special Branch who ideals with crimes affecting the British diplomatic service.
