Publisher's Presentation Copy, evidenced by a blind stamp on the title page. 8vo. xviii, 429p, 1 leaf ads. Illustrated with 40 black & white plates by Hugh Thomson. Bound in publisher's red embossed cloth featuring repeated floral patterns with the letter "M" on the upper and lower covers, gilt spine and cover titles. The titles in Thomson's Jane Austen series are quite scarce.

Synopsis

Mansfield Park is a novel by Jane Austen, written at Chawton Cottage between 1812 and 1814. It was published in July 1814 by Thomas Egerton, who published Jane Austen's two earlier novels, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice. When the novel reached a second edition, its publication was taken over by John Murray, who also published its successor, Emma.
