New York: Privately Printed, 1875. First edition. Hardcover. Good. Hardcover in dark brown cloth lettered in gilt, respined with black cloth. 159 pp. with glossary, index. Frontis engraving "Ideal Restoration Of The Neanderthal Man" , 18 additional engravings in the text. A tight example but with loss at the bottom inch of the spine and front gutter, wear to the cloth at the tips and edge loss to the outer rear cloth. Ink ownership signature and notation on the first front blank: "Purchased of the author J.P. Maclean Nov. 30, 1875. Price $1.00" followed by a 1940 dated addtional signature.
