Spines and lower cover of vol. I faded to a lighter shade, minor rubbing to joints, all else fine. No. 286 of 250 copies on Vosges paper, of a total edition of 1000, this inscribed and signed by Gruel, Vol. II is no. 23 of 50 copies on Papier du Japon des Manufactures Imperiales from a total edition of 700. Two volumes, Tall quarto. Illustrated with 138 tinted and chromolithographed plates. Bound by Gruel in half red morocco with marbled sides and endpapers, t.e.g., the spines with gilt titles and decorative panels, original paper covers bound in. The autograph dedication of both Gruel and (?) to the bibliophile M. Bocabeille.
