[Sydney, N.S.W. : Jones, Printer, Bridge Street, c.1833]. Broadsheet, 450 x 390 mm, letterpress printed; old horizontal and vertical crease, pale foxing, a very good example. Text in English and Māori. A rare broadside printed around 1833 by William Jones of Bridge Street, Sydney, for use in Church Missionary Society schools. It is a lesson sheet for Māori converts. The text, in syllabified Māori, is a translation of Matthew 19:13-15: '13 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there'. This broadsheet is known to have been one of a pair, the other entitled Christ raiseth Lazarus to life. = Ka wa-ka-a-ra-hia a Ra-ha-ru-hi e Te Ka-rai-ti. Two copies are recorded in Australian collections (Naional Library of Australia; State Library of New South Wales). Ferguson 1674; Williams 13; Parkinson and Griffith 16.
