London: Edward Arnold. Hardback, 301pp. Novelist E. M. Forster's biography of his great aunt. Marianne's father was Henry Thornton MP, friend of William Wilberforce (about whom there is much in this book) and member of the Clapham Sect. A fascinating and affectionate domestic portrait. Indexed. Blue cloth with gilt titles to spine is very clean and neat. Endpapers are slightly tanned. Dust wrapper is dust and finger marked with a significant chip to the head of the spine and small chips to tail of the spine. Very good copy in fair dust wrapper . Hardback. First Edition. 1956.
