First edition of one of the earliest Russian translations of Mark Twain's famous novel "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (original text published in 1876). The book was translated from English by L. Rakitin and issued as part of the "Ogonyok library series" in 1928. It was one of the thousand brochures printed by the magazine from 1925 to 1991. "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" was first translated into Russian in 1886 and since then has evolved into one of the most
cherished foreign novels in Russia.
