About This Item
London: W. Baxter/Longmann, Rees, Orme, Brown, & Gren, 1816. Two books bound in one: 2nd edition of Bailie's The Restoration of Works of Art to Italy, of which Worldcat lists onlly 4 copies & Hemans' The Martyr, of which Worldcat lists only 2 others. Bound in brown leather with decorative gilt spine, slightly chipped at bottom and missing 1/4 inch bit; fragile along connection of cover to spine, some wear around all extremities, but still a rather handsome, if fragile copy, with inside pages clean but foxed, and with gorgeous marbleized end papers. In pencil has been written on front title page this recommendation from Lord Byron, from Moore's Life of Byron: " I shall take Felicia Hemans' Restoration etc. with me ; it is a good poem--very". Quite a blurb!. Leather. Good Minus/None. 8 3/4 x 5 1/2 Inches.
