Soiled green wrapper with block print to front with incorrect Issue number printed--XI instead of IX. String-tied binding. Much chipping to wrapper and fore edge of leaves. Foxing throughout. Mercantile Library Philadelphia stamp on first page. Fair condition.
As noted in the title, this periodical is a "museum of knowledge and entertainment" with items on history, current events, literature, music, and business. This issue includes the "Handsome Engraving" of Benjamin West, tied to the first article in the magazine which is an essay on West. Also includes short essays, fictional pieces, poetry plus foreign and domestic reports. See photo of full table of contents.
Edited by Thaddeus M. Harris and printed at the Magazine and Orrery Office by Alexander Martin; sold at John West's Bookstore. Rare, especially in wrappers.
