About This Item
Indianapolis: The Bowen-Merill Company, 1901. 245pp. Octavo. First edition, first printing. Olive green cloth with gold gilt lettering and decorations stamped to the front board and spine; colour illustration mounted to the front board. Twelve colour plates, including the frontispiece, as well as numerous line drawings throughout the text. Mild amount of toning to the text block edges. Previous owner's name and address to the front pastedown. A tight and clean copy. A tricky book biographically, this appears to be the first edition, first printing with the typographical error on the copyright page, as well as the first state binding. Wonderfully illustrated by F. Y. Cory. 1901
