About This Item
[New York: Marxist-Leninist Party], 1971. An 8 ½" x 11" mimeographed broadside published by the ultra-orthodox Marxist-Leninist Party on the true nature of May Day. The MLP contends that the bourgeoisie and petty-bourgeoisie have co-opted May Day with their "solemn ceremonies of bourgeois 'Law Day' carried out by the dust-covered mummies of City Hall etc. [and] the hysterical actions of self-proclaimed 'freaks', pacifist liberals, faggots, and the usual cabal of revisionist-trotskyite lawyers." They then maintain that only their rigorous training of Theory and Practice can prepare for the establishment of the Dictatorship of the Proletariat. The Marxist-Leninist Party emerged out of the remnants of the Proletarian Revolutionary Party and the C.P.U.S.A. (M.L.). They published "The Communist," while their sister organization, the Red Women's Detachment, published "Red Star." By 1973 the publications merged to produce "Class War," but by 1974 the Party and its publications had collapsed. An about Fine copy. As is typical for all MLP material, this item scarce with only Northwestern holding a copy via WorldCat.
