Dee Harkey was a peace officer in the West from age 15, in 1882, until 1911. Here is a narrative of his personal experiences dealing with "...men mean as hell." A most interesting account of lawlessness in New Mexico. The author had personal experience with many of the outlaws as a peace officer and he records some facts not found elsewhere.
