Chesterton: Granta Editions, 2000. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. 4to. Pp. 176. Frontis. color photo of porcelain from the Tek Sing with coral growth. Glossary. Bibliography. Illustrated throughout with color photographs showing the underwater archaeology of dives to the ship; reproductions of historical images; accomplished studio photography of artifacts retreived from the wreck. Bound in dark red cloth with gilt lettering stamped on spine. Signed -- twice -- by the author on recto and verso of FFEP. An attractive copy. We aren't usually given to hyperbole, but a better documentation of the salvage effort cannot be imagined: David Freedman's informed analysis of the porcelain is an essay to behold; no expense appears spared in the photography of the porcelain retrieved from the wreck; the historical context of the period in which the Tek Sing sank is masterful. Signed by Nigel Pickford on the front of the FFEP, "With Best Wishes / Nigel Pickford", and inscribed by him on the back of the FFEP, "Best Wishes, Nigel Pickford". The dust jacket is now preserved in a removable, archival sleeve. Bookseller inventory S101930X2D.
