Introduction by Wallace Nethery. "Sir Henry Maximilian "Max" Beerbohm was an English essayist, parodist and caricaturist under the signature of Max. He first became known in the 1890s as a dandy and a humorist. Among his best-known works is his only novel, Zuleika Dobson, published in 1911. His caricatures, drawn usually in pen or pencil with muted watercolor tinting, are in many public collections." Wikipedia. Max was also an important collecting interest of Wallace and Corry Nethery. PROVENANCE: Kalman Levitan (1917-2002) was an author and miniature book bibliographer who founded and was first chairman of the Miniature Book Society of America. REFERENCE: Bradbury, 20th-Cent.
