Dust jacket is not price clipped (2.50 on front inside flap), clean, a little surface wear at top and bottom spine ends, very small brown tape marks near bottom of rear panel, small surface scrape at top corner of rear inside flap. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover.

Amazingly hard to find in this condition -- clean, unfaded, unmarked and solid in a highly presentable original dust jacket. Basis for the film of the same name (1944) starring Judy Garland, Mary Astor, and Margaret O'Brien. In the year before the 1904 St Louis World's Fair, the four Smith daughters learn lessons of life and love, even as they prepare for a reluctant move to New York.

Norwalk, Ct: The Easton Press, 1967. Reprint . Hardcover. Near Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. pp: 138. Bound in full grey leather covered boards elaborately decorated with the letter 'H' stamped in gilt designed by Peter Winfield Johnson. The book includes raised bands to the spine, gilt edges, frontispiece, and satin endpapers. The illustrations by Legrand were originally in the 1939 Limited Editions Club publication. The text of this edition is also from the 1939 publication which was derived from the Second Quarto of 1604 and the First Folio edition of 1623. It contains the old style spelling and punctuation of the earlier printings. The size of the text block is almost exactly the same as that of the First Folio. The paper was made at the Glatfelter Paper Mill in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania. Laid in is a four-page booklet on the historical context of this publication.
