London: James Nisbet, 1858. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Firts edition. Hardcover in pebbled blindstamped green cloth with spine lettered in gilt. Frontispiece engarved portrait of Seddon. 208 pp. Small engravings in the text. Good, two worn-through spots on the spine and some light tidemarking upper portion of the frontis and the title page; 1898 gift inscription front free endpaper. Thomas Seddon (1821-1856) was a noted English landscape painter known for his colorful scenes of Brittany, Egypt, and Jerusalem. He was associated with the pre-Raphaelite movement.
