Charleston, 1804. First edition. original blue wraps. Very Good. 168 large pp., 11-1/2" x 9-1/2", with one large fold-out plate, original blue paper covers, untrimmed, some browning, includes an important 21-page eulogy to GEORGE WASHINGTON, also a new method of working a lunar observation by NATHANIEL BOWDITCH, a brief description of his orrery by JOSEPH POPE, and dozens of other contributions. These are followed by a long list of donations of books and artifacts to the Academy, with names of donors, and then a list of American and foreign members, including Thomas Jefferson, John Quincy Adams, Alexander Hamilton, David Ritenhouse, Sir Joseph Banks, William Herschell, etc., etc. This is an important section of the Memoirs of this very early, prestigious American scientific society, printed just five years after the death of Washington.

Untrimmed, with page edges quite frayed, but with enormous multi-inch margins.
