Trübner, London, 1869, vol 1 only of a two-volume work; 8vo, pp xx, 369, coloured map of the North Western Provinces; dark brick red cloth, spine gilt, end papers a little marked and with some pages marked with the stamp of the Behrend Memorial Library but a very good copy with the pages mostly still uncut. Henry Miers Elliot, British civil servant and historian was employed in Bengal by the East India Company, producing several important papers and a couple of books in the process, these being edited for general publication after his death in his mid-forties in 1853.
