The first edition thus of this work, being the first published edition of Pepys' diary in full.Complete in two volumes.The historically important diaries of Samuel Pepys.Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and nine plates.Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, one double-paged map, and three plates.Collated, complete.Pepys' diaries was kept from 1660 to 1669, and it is now considered to be one of the most important primary sources of the English Restoration.Pepys was the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under both Kings Charles II and James II. His diaries is a brilliant historical resource for the English Restoration.The diaries are noted for its eyewitness accounts of great events, including the Great Plague of London, the Great Fire of London, and the Second Dutch War.Including Pepys' correspondence.Edited by Richard, Lord Braybrooke. In a half straight grain morocco binding, with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart, with light rubbing to the boards and spines. Spines are a touch faded. Light bumping to the spines and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots. Very Good Indeed
