An outstanding Presentation Copy INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author to the son and namesake of the man whom he served as Vice-President and whom he succeeded in office: "With kind regards to/my good friend/Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr./from/Harry Truman/Independence/July 14, 1956." While never achieving the renown of his father, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr. was a successful congressman (1949-1954) who twice ran for governor of New York and who was a close friend and early backer of John F. Kennedy. He later became a successful businessman.
