Memorials of naibu kanda
Tokyo: tokyo-shoin 1927. This book looks BRAND NEW AND BRIGHT although perhaps because it is thick with 525 pages the front board to fep join is roughened for part of its length so that we see the webbing-but that does not weaken the binding. Even though it is a 1927 first edition, it has a dust jacket that has just a nick at top and is a remarkable survivor. Tissue-proteced frontis in fine condition The book has no writing, no bumps. A few illustrations, all like new. Some toning. By far the best condition avalaiabale on the net today. Naibu Kanda lived 1857-1923. The coming of Perry's "black ships' was a turning point for the Japanese and in particular for the author second Baron Kanda. Scholar, statesman, member House of Peers, founder of Tokyo University of Commerce. 516 pages plus prelims. Some slight evidence of toning of pages but book is unmarked. A scarce book providing insight into Japan's move westward
