About This Item

London: Weidenfeld and Nicolson, 1989. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 9.5" by 6.5". Not Stated . A lovely signed first edition in its unclipped dust wrapper of this book of memoirs by the grandson of wartime Britain's leader, Winston S. Churchill. Featuring signed letters. The first edition of this book of memoirs by Winston S. Churchill, Sir Winston Churchill's grandson, born in 1940. Himself elected to Parliament as the youngest conservative MP in 1970, Churchill retraces his life and career sharing unique family memories, in particular insight into the life of his father Randolph Churchill, and old Winston as a loving and playful grandfather. Illustrated with sixteen full page plates of photography in black and white. Collated, complete.  Signed by the author to the half title. With two letters loosely inserted; one inscribed by the author in blue ink trying to sort payments to a friend due to a missed visit after a friend's mother's death, dated 1989, and the other typed addressed to Mr. Ogden, thanking him for a letter regarding a charity fund raising event, dated 1997. Both signed Winston. Complete in its unclipped dust wrapper.  In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. The dust wrapper is excellent with only minor shelf wear and a hint of sunning to the spine. With two letters by the author loosely inserted, dated 1989 and 1997. Signed by the author to the half title. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with sixteen full page plates of photographs in black and white. Collated, complete.
