Each volume contains a frontispiece portrait of Browning with tissue guard. Gilt top page edges. From "The King's Poets" series. There is a "Notes" section at the back of volume II. Though not received well with poor sales when first published, this collection of 51 poems is now generally considered to contain some of Browning's best work.

The tissue guard over the frontispiece in vol II is present but has detached. Each volume has an old name written in pen on the front end paper. Foxing to the end papers, the last few pages of vol II, and to the frontispiece/tissue guard/title page in vol II. Overall the set is in Good- condition.
