New York, New York, U.S.A.: Philomel Books, 2008. First Edition, First Printing . Hardcover. New/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Advance Reading Copy. Signed by author on half-title page. Long ago, at the dawn of Merlin's world, a strange little creature appeared. Part lizard, part bat, his eyes glowed with mysterious light. Meet Basil--someone very small in size but very large in destiny. When Basil discovers a terrible new threat to his world and the great wizard Merlin, he begins an epic journey that takes him from the Great Tree of Avalon to the outermost edge of the spirit realm. But his boldest journey by far will be to confront his own deepest fears. Only if he survives will he be able to save Merlin--and find a future as great as his heart. Adventurous and gripping, this first book in Merlin's Dragon trilogy brings to life an original, unforgettable character. Young Readers. New ARC, as issued in pictorial wraps. 336 pp.

Synopsis

Basil becomes Merlin's partner as they battle the mysterious shadows that threaten the new Avalon. A dark magic has been spreading across Avalon. Initially, the events seemed unrelated: a war in Fireroot between the dwarves and the fire dragons, blight in Stoneroot, and disputes throughout the realms. But as Merlin and Basil scour the realms, they begin to realize that looming behind the growing chaos is a single dark threat—an enemy that they’ve never encountered. One that must be stopped before all of Avalon is lost. In this jaw-dropping sequel to the mega-hit Merlin’s Dragon, T. A. Barron sends Merlin, Rhia, and Basil, the greatest dragon ever, on a mission across Avalon to root out this new enemy. But sacrifices will be made, relationships will be tested, and precious lives will be lost.

About Joe Staats, Bookseller

Modern Literature, Mysteries, and More!
We specialize in collectible, contemporary signed first editions. First edition means the first printing. (Later printings of the first edition are typically not printed on acid-free paper, and should be avoided by collectors.) Signatures are obtained by us in person. Inscribed books sold by us may contain a line, a phrase, or a sketch that the author has chosen to add. Our signed books are not dedicated to anybody in particular (not to your grandmother, your Aunt Gladys, your ex-lover or your former cellmate), except in the rare case of a presentation copy from an author to a noteworthy person. All our books are hardcover, unless the book is an Advance Reading Copy, Uncorrected Proof, or PBO. You can expect that the books we send you will be as described, and in a physical condition worthy of the author’s having signed them. We do not sell remainder-marked books, signed or otherwise
