There is one small bump with a nick to the bottom front edge of the book cover. The text pages are clean and bright. All moveable pieces are present and in very good working order. This is a reproduction of one of Ernest Nister's moveable books which were originally published in the 1800's. "The original book, Merry Surprises, was first published around 1897 by Ernest Nister of London. Nister was among the best-known creators of movable books, and his rosy-cheeked, Victorian children illustrated here are as enchanting today as they were then. William Collins (Collins), 1983. First Thus Printing Unknown. Hardcover. As New/No Jacket Issued. Ernest Nister. UNREAD, but not quite perfect, 1983 William Collins (or Collins) hardcover (pictorial boards - no DJ issued), first thus, no printing given. Originally published as Merry Surprises by Nister in 1897. All of the interactive graphics are large wheels to be turned. I assume the text (perfect for early readers) is by Nister as well. Problem: short and very very pale binding wrinkle top front cover panel near fore edge. You have to look for it, but it is there.
