McClellan (1865-1940) son of the famous Civil War general and presidential candidate, was Mayor of the City from 1904 to 1909 and presided over monumental changes to the City's landscape including the opening of the IRT Subway, the construction of the Chelsea Piers, the building of the Municipal Building and other still current landmarks.
