Over 100 coloured paintings some full page

Michael Morgan (1928-2014) was a renowned West Country artist who enjoyed two distinguished careers firstly in academia and latterly as an artist whose ground-breaking style is widely considered to have added new life to the watercolour medium and subsequently influenced and guided many young artists.

Michael Morgan was an artist whose innovative style injected new life into the watercolour medium. Influenced by the renowned Cotswold artist John Blockley RI. Michael himself became a source of creative inspiration for many younger artists. Michael has had two highly successful careers. Firstly in academia where he became the Principal of the Froebel Institute and founding trustee of the American University in London. Secondly he turned his attention to his early love of painting. Working with watercolours he produced small but powerful studies of isolated landscapes mostly in Britain, but also in Tuscany. His work is defined by remote finely observed buildings set in a backdrop of hill and sky with an intensely worked foreground drawing the eye to a distant structure all depicted with complex tonality and colour and inventive structure.

Michael's work caught the art world's imagination. He was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) and was a founding academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc).
