12vo; fine Mexican half leather; with 8 plates, 6 of them folded. First edition of this interesting work on military artillery. From the noted Mexican 19th century printer Don Ignacio Cumplido.
A very rare work, not registered by Palau or Porrúa in 1949. The author, Don Bruno Aguilar (1810,1876), was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Graduated from the Colegio Militar and sent to Europe, he was friendly with Humboldt and studied the artillery factories of Prussia. On return to Mexico in 1846, he was Directory of the Cannon Foundry of Chapultepec. A supporter of the Second Empire, he was General Inspector of Artillery, Adjutant of Maximillian, Imperial visitor of Pachuca, and Director General of Artillery. He also participated as a member of the Comission Scientifique du Mexique. (X99X001569) (RF 187)
