This highly interesting work contains the unpublished plates that were meant to illustrate Alphone Milde-Edwards's studies on marine crustaceans, in particular those dredged by the U. S. Fish Commission steamer "Blake" in the western Atlantic, and those dredged by the "travailleur" in the eastern Atlantic. Added is a printed sheet stating that the reproduced plates were reduced by about one third, a fact not mentioned in the book itself. Also acknowledgements are added for the pictures of the research vessels "Travailleur" and "Blake".
